Battle-2

"You don’t say? I didn’t know there was anyone actually looking for me since winter."
"I sure was. Do you know how much I watched the places where I’d see you arrive? I’d go out every day to that spot, tilt my head up, and look for you."
"I had no idea. Thank you so much for doing that. It feels good to know someone’s been waiting for me."
"Right? It feels even more special when it seems like no one cares about anyone else’s battles."
"I know. And I don’t think that makes people indifferent; they all just have their own lives. They have things to deal with, and they need all their time for those tasks."
"I really thought you were never coming. Every time the sun went down in the evening, I thought it would never come up again. I thought everything would just go flat black after sunset. When it was snowing, I really thought you were never coming back."
"I hear you. Yeah, it was hard. It’s challenging—every year is challenging. Some years are harder than others, but it really is a difficult job."
"It’s getting wetter and darker every year. The winter, I mean."
"Right."
"So, did you think of me when you were arriving?"
"What do you mean? Why would I have thought of you?"
