Boiling Tea in a Silver Kettle
Once, I rushed about frantically in the secular world,
Like a starving kite, empty-bellied for ten long years.
Calling my servant, I tell him to boil tea with cold water from the evening river,
Seeking to heal my lungs and soothe my burning heart.
As all anxieties align into calm, my mind grows bright;
Through the long day before my dark desk, I draw back what I see and hear.
Outside Donghwamun Gate, disputes and squabbles break out,
Though they babble and chatter loudly, I do not hear a sound.
