Did you know that? It’s a hornet’s nest. And it’s an abandoned one.

Did you know they abandon their nests? I didn’t. But I somehow knew this one was empty just by looking at it.

Why do they abandon them? I looked it up on Gemini and read a bit, but I never really understood. It seemed to have something to do with the temperature and the weather.

I really don’t know much about stuff, do I? We really don’t know much about anything.

Is that why hornets abandon their homes in the autumn? Is that why people give up on things? Is that why people turn around and leave or come back sometimes?

Is that why someone has a beard and someone else has to shave their head? Is that why we drink juice, and why a comet fell millions—or was it billions—of years ago?

Is that why we drink tea? Out of all the jobs I’ve done in my life, I settled on this one, does this explain that? Is that why people come and go? Is that why bears eat salmon, and why I love eating raw salmon from Norway? Is that why she left? Is that why people hit people and make them bleed? Is that why it rains some days, like today, and some people don't use umbrellas and just walk through the rain? Is that why some people cut in line in dirty Crocs on a moving walk?

Is that why people drops cell phones and candies all together? Why do some break and some don’t?

Is that why wildfires break out and people wear shorts? Is that why some laugh and some cry, or is it all just random?

I really don’t know much about anything, do I? Sometimes it feels like I don’t even try. It feels like sometimes I do try and it doesn't even matter—I end up not knowing anything after all anyway.

Did you know this was a hornet’s nest and that it was an abandoned one? I didn’t, but I knew it was empty.

This is not a bird's nest.

Why do hornets abandon their nests? Isn't it their home? Where do they go then?

And I’m just a tea room runner. Is that why?

I don’t know any better after all. Is that why?

It’s raining today and I never use an umbrella.

I don’t know any better after all.

Why do hornets abandon homes?
