"What’s that? Oh, you think every year is the same? Because this has been happening since the beginning of time, you think the change—the transition—is so smooth and easy?
It never is. Have you heard the news? That big snowstorm is coming this weekend. I constantly have to fight against winter. Do you think she will just disappear because it's March? Because I walked into the room, do you think she will pack her things and leave? It has never been like that for billions of years.
I have to fight; I have to talk; I have to persuade; I have to trick; I have to push and pull. I basically have to try every possible move to arrive. If I don’t do my part, summer would never be able to come afterward.
The funny thing is, I also hold my ground when I have to leave. Do you think I’d just leave when summer is here? I never do. We all fight, and we do it every year, knowing that we are fighting the future version of ourselves. Funny, isn’t it? But life is funny, even for us."
