Understanding the Weight.
I understand, or at least I try to.
Maybe I should not say I relate to it too lightly. But let me try. I may be able to.
We welcome everyone. We welcome every visitor and respect the reasons that bring them to our tea room.
Recently, we’ve met many people of Korean descent from all over the world. We deeply appreciate their visit. I especially do.
I will not share my whole life story here, because I don’t want to make this about me. But I do have my own reasons for relating to those with Korean heritage living abroad.
We try to stay accurate and authentic in our experience. Everything is kept as close to tradition as possible. If we make modern interpretations or adjustments, we will tell you.
For example, we do not sit on the floor. We use chairs and tables to offer a more comfortable setting. So people can focus on the essence of the experience, without being distracted by discomfort or rigid formality.
We are learning and improving every day, with care and diligence. Tradition might look like something from the past, but it is not. Some of us are working to preserve its form and carry it forward. Tradition has not died. It lives among us.
So if you have been carrying the weight of your heritage, history, or culture, if you have felt that pull, let us help. Let us carry that with you here in this tea room.

I am saying this because I have carried something similar for a very long time.
So I know. I know how it feels.
I can relate, and I’m not saying this lightly.
